We have chosen to hold it from 1st to 6th November 2024 to coincide with the Melbourne Cup, similar to what we did in 2014.

The Quality Inn is owned by The Tradies Club which is connected to the Hotel. There is a restaurant at the hotel. The hotel is located within the precinct of Canberra’s China Town. There are numerous restaurants within the area, and only a 2-5 minute walk to access any of them. The restaurants include, Chinese (obviously), Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Italian, Turkish as well as Vegan and Vegetarian. There is also Harry’s Burgers and cafes, as well as a pub. The hotel is also situated next to the Dickson Shops, which includes Woolworths, chemist, liquor shop, gift shops, bakery and cafes.

Concours/Judging of Cars

Where: The display will be held at the Old Parliament House Treasury Lawns.
When: Sat 2 Nov from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Cost: Free

The travel time to the venue is approximately 15-20 minutes. Judging will commence at 9.30am, and cars are to be removed by 3.00pm. Between 9am-1.30pm The Little Burley Markets, located on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin, will be operating. This is only a 2 minute walk from where the cars will be displayed.
National Attractions - The display area is surrounded by many national attractions, including the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, The High Court, The National Library, Questacon, Museum of Australian Democracy (Old Parliament House).

Presentation Dinner

Where: Ainslie Football Club
When: Sat 2 Nov from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Cost: $70.00

The presentation dinner will be held at the Ainslie Football Club which is around 4 kilometers from our accommodation. We have organized a bus to get us there and back.
The theme for the evening will be “Australian Icons”. This theme covers any person, building, animal, attraction or event which you may consider an “icon”. Travel time will be only a 5 minute drive.

Members Forum

Sunday morning will have the usual Members' Forum followed by a farewell lunch for those leaving that day. The afternoon will be free to do what you want.

This is approximately a 30 minute drive.
Lunch - 2 course menu - Tallagandra Hills Winery. After lunch we farewell those who are not attending the After Tour.

Drive to Braidwood

Drive to Braidwood approximately 1 hour from Canberra. Historic Braidwood is a National Trust classified town, the first to be listed on the NSW State Heritage register. After having time to explore the many boutique art, craft and clothing stores, we drive to the little town of Bungendore which is approximately 30 minutes back towards Canberra. The town is a similar age to that of Braidwood and also has many antique, arts and craft boutique stores.

The lunch will be held in the Club’s restaurant with everyone being able to choose and pay for their own meal.

Drive to Federation Square

Where:

Drive to Federation Square where there is an interesting array of shops, galleries and even a large bird aviary of Australian birds and some small animals.
There is also an opportunity to spend an hour or so visiting the beautiful Cockington Green Gardens, which is situated within the same precinct. The beautifully maintained gardens surround a miniature English Village which is meticulous in its authenticity. It also has another “garden room” which showcases in miniature many buildings from countries who have diplomatic ties with Australia.

Lunch at the George Harcourt Inn. This is again in Federation Square and is directly opposite Cockington Green Gardens. Lunch will be at members’ expense.
